'I'm off to London' Terrorist's chilling words after spending final night in budget hotel
WESTMINISTER terrorist Khalid Masood spent the night holed up in a budget hotel the night before his horrific attack – and chillingly told staff that London “isn’t what it used to be”.

The twisted killer devoured a takeaway kebab on Tuesday night before checking out of his room on Wednesday morning and heading to London to commit his cowardly attack, according to the Sun.

Police were able to track Masood’s movements back to the Preston Park hotel in Brighton after finding a receipt in his Hyundai hire car.

Masood, previously known as Adrian Russell Ajao, stayed in the hotel on Tuesday night before travelling to London to commit his despraved attack outside Houses of Parliament, killing four and injuring 29 others.

The 52-year-old spent some of his final days and hours in the £65-a-night budget hotel and forensic officers have scoured his first-floor room for fingerprints and DNA.

The kettle, bedsheets and even the trouser press have reportedly been taken in a bid to obtain more evidence.

Intelligence experts are attempting to establish the websites Masood visited during his stays or whether he spoke to accomplices through the hotel’s WiFi.

CCTV from the hotel was also taken for evidence after it emerged the attacker used his real name, ID and credit card to pay for his room.

More details have emerged about the Kent-born father-of-three attacker following Wednesday’s devastating attack.

It has emerged Masood had a history of criminal convictions – including for reportedly stabbing a man in the face.

The terrorist was once on MI5’s radar, although he had not committed any terror offences prior to the Westminster attack earlier this week.

Masood had previously lived in Birmingham and was reportedly previously registered to living at an address in West Ham, London.

At least 85 British militants involved in Syria's bloody civil war have been killed
At least 85 British militants involved in Syria's bloody civil war have been killed, Michael Fallon added.

Close to 850 UK-linked extremists have travelled to the region since fighting began in 2014, with just under half of those returning.

Shadow Foreign Office minister Diana Johnson said the Government must do more to explain how the 400 or so "homegrown extremists" are being managed following their return.

In a letter to the Labour MP, Mr Fallon said: "Approximately 850 UK-linked individuals of national security concern have travelled to take part in the Syrian conflict.

"Just under half of these have returned and over 10 per cent have been killed.

"This number includes all those of national security concern who have travelled to take part in the conflict, not just those who have affiliated themselves with Daesh."

He added: "Those returning to the UK after training or fighting with groups such as Daesh can expect to be rigorously investigated to ensure that they do not pose a threat to our national security.

"If the authorities believe they have committed criminal offences, they will be prosecuted."

But Ms Johnson replied: "These figures show the grim reality for the UK citizens who have been lured into joining ISIS - it's not glamorous, it's not exciting and you are very likely to end up either dead or tortured.

"But there is also a real issue here about the 400-plus fighters who have gone out to Syria and returned.

"These homegrown extremists pose a serious risk.

"Last year the Government introduced new powers to manage these extremists when they return, but the Government keeps refusing to say how often, if at all, these powers have been used.

"The Government needs to explain what they are doing to manage the risk these individuals pose."

Met police conducting a terror drill
ISIS is being crippled by a chronic shortage of fanatical fighters willing to blow themselves up in the name of jihad.

In April, the US military said the flow of foreign recruits from Europe has dried up by 90 per cent.

According to a senior US general, just a few hundred foreign-born jihadis are now registering with the caliphate each month, down from a high of 2,000 just a year ago.

It supports the theory ISIS' total headcount has dropped dramatically from around 31,000 to as low as 19,000 - close to half their historic high.
