Leí en algún sitio que todos los presidentes de Estados Unidos, menos Trump, descienden de Enrique II.

Me lo creo. Aquí (UK) lo que es raro es no encontrar que desciendes de algún monarca medieval.

Es una combinación de prácticas locales medievales (casando a las hijas menores con alguien de menor rango, al final, en siete u ocho generaciones, tienes que el Rey y un artesano o jornalero descienden del mismo tronco) y del hecho de que hay cantidad de registros (esta gente lo guarda todo!) con información de la época a través de los cuales se puede tirar del hilo.

Esto último, por ejemplo, no es posible en España, ya que la mayoría de los registros de las iglesias han desaparecido, por lo que es difícil tirar del hilo. Aquí te vas a una parroquia perdida en un páramo y tienen registros hasta de los siglos XIII y XIV. A veces los siguen teniendo en la misma parroquia; otras veces en algún museo o archivo local.

Hay hasta revistas especializadas en genealogía y en dar consejos sobre cómo tirar del hilo. E infinidad de páginas web en la que la gente comparte sus investigaciones y fuentes y puedes completar tu investigación con la de otros!

A Edoardo, y de cara a la boda, ya le harán un estudio genealógico completo, y si tiene algún entroncamiento con las grandes casas italianas (Colonna, Massimo, del Drago, Doria-Pamphilj, d'Aragona, etc.) lo encontrarían. Así que es cuestión de esperar, que los genealogistas ya estarán trabajando en ello, algunos por afición y otros por encargo de los medios.
