Attitude Magazine

A day after telling reporters that he would be appearing in Attitude magazine, Prince William is . . . yes, now appearing inAttitude magazine—on the cover, in fact! The Duke of Cambridge is pictured, in a white button-down, smiling widely—on the cover of the gay lifestyle magazine (“The UK’s best-selling and award-winning gay magazine”), making this the “first time a member of the Royal Family has been photographed for the cover of a gay publication,” per Attitude.

The prince invited the magazine to bring members of the L.G.B.T. community to the palace, in mid-May, so he could “hear their experiences of homophobic, bi-phobic and transphobic bullying, and discuss the mental health implications it has.” The magazine notes that while “most LGBT+ people do not suffer with such problems and live happy, successful lives . . . sadly, statistics show that the LGBT+ community is one that continues to suffer disproportionately from mental health issues, while bullying in schools is still an issue too many young LGBT+ people are exposed to.”

William gave a statement (part of which is excerpted on the cover) following the discussion—which was facilitated by Attitude editor in chief Matthew Todd—as well: “No one should be bullied for their sexuality or any other reason and no one should have to put up with the kind of hate that these young people have endured in their lives. The young gay, lesbian and transgender individuals I met through Attitude are truly brave to speak out and to give hope to people who are going through terrible bullying right now. Their sense of strength and optimism should give us all encouragement to stand up to bullying wherever we see it. What I would say to any young person reading this who’s being bullied for their sexuality: don’t put up with it—speak to a trusted adult, a friend, a teacher, Childline, Diana Award or some other service and get the help you need. You should be proud of the person you are and you have nothing to be ashamed of.”

The cover was shot by photographer Leigh Keily, and the issue goes on sale on June 22.

Estoy curiosa algo.
