My name is Tiina Jauhiainen and I need your help to rescue my best friend, Princess Latifa Al Maktoum. She is the daughter of Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, and she is being held against her will somewhere in the UAE.
I haven’t seen Latifa since 4th March 2019, when she was kidnapped at gunpoint in front of me while she was trying to escape from Dubai and a lifetime of oppression and abuse.
Everyone has the right to live a life of their own choice, regardless of their background. That right was snatched from Latifa in what was effectively a state-sponsored and state-authorised kidnapping. Since then she has been held against her will, and kept away from the public.
Because of Latifa’s repeated attempts to escape, the world was able to get a glimpse into the oppressed lives of Emirati and Gulf women. Many have been moved and inspired by her story. UAE laws actively promote the status of women as second-class citizens and the police routinely tortures prisoners, especially female prisoners in order to extract confessions.
I fear for Latifa’s life and I need your help to put pressure on respective governments and the international community to demand her IMMEDIATE RELEASE. Her step-mother, Princess Haya, recently managed to escape from her abusive marriage to Latifa’s father and is now in hiding in the UK.
Latifa has asked me to help spread her message of freedom for all oppressed women, and I will continue to do so as long as she remains imprisoned.
Latifa's freedom will be a victory to the tens of millions of enslaved Gulf women living under the hated male guardianship system, and oppressed women all over the world.
You can WATCH for yourself what Latifa has been through in the award winning BBC2 documentary "Escape From Dubai: The Mystery Of The Missing Princess” and check www.freelatifa.com for the latest updates and ways of getting involved.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please share with all your friends so that we can all help #freeLatifa.
